Tor Equine vets are very lucky to have access to the brand-new examination and surgical facilities at Beech Trees, The Mare and Foal sanctuary’s new veterinary facilities.

At Beech Trees there is a flat, hard trot up area and soft outdoor arena for lameness investigations. The examination stocks allow us to safely restrain your horse so that certain more detailed or invasive procedures can be performed with a reduced risk to the horse, handler and vet. This may involve anything from a rectal examination to standing back surgery or laparoscopic surgery! We also have access to a large examination room for those procedures which do not require stocks.

The surgical facilities at Beech Trees are currently in the process of being finished and will allow Tor equine to offer certain surgeries that require General Anaesthetic such as closed castrations and joint arthroscopies with the assistance of visiting surgeon Ollie Crowe BVSc CertES(Orth) DipECVS MRCVS. It is not the intention to provide colic surgery in the near future and synovial sepsis surgery will only be possible according to Ollie’s availability. Horses requiring this type of treatment would be referred to a larger Hospital.

Beech Trees also provides state of the art biosecure stabling for those horses that need to spend the day with us or require hospitalisation.
